About Gordon Platt

Gordon Platt serves as trusted outside general counsel to a diverse range of businesses, advising on matters including mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, intellectual property, media law, and internal investigations. He also provides legal guidance to nonprofit organizations on regulatory and compliance issues.

In addition to his corporate practice, Gordon has developed a significant trusts and estates practice, regularly representing high-net-worth individuals in complex estate planning matters. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Massachusetts.

Gordon brings a unique perspective to his legal work, shaped by his background as an investigative producer for ABC News and as the founder of both a documentary film company and a marketing agency. His experience in the media industry gives him a deep understanding of the legal needs of creatives, journalists, and entertainment professionals. He frequently negotiates and closes deals for clients across these sectors and regularly advises early stage and startup companies.

His investigative work has earned national recognition, including Emmy and Columbia Dupont Awards, and a Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association. Notably, his reporting on corruption in Texas led to the pardon of 35 individuals wrongly convicted of drug offenses—a landmark moment in criminal justice.

An early adopter of artificial intelligence, Gordon leverages AI tools to enhance investigations and uncover hidden assets, bringing cutting-edge technology to bear on complex legal matters.

Gordon earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College, with high honors in Russian and Government, and was the recipient of the Woodbury Law Prize. He also holds an M.Sc. in Russian History and Politics from the London School of Economics, which he attended on a Reynolds Fellowship (awarded by Dartmouth College) and where he was awarded the Leonard Schapiro Scholarship.

He lives in Chappaqua, New York, with his wife and a large dog. He is the proud father of three grown sons, all of whom are frequent recipients of his unsolicited advice.
